Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council
Vista Theater
Rules and Regulations
Passed by the Board of Directors on October 10, 2005, amended on August 7, 2007
and are effective on this date.

Welcome to the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council and the historic Vista theater. PAAC is a community theater, a supporter of local arts, and a non-profit arts organization. We own and operate the Vista theater as a venue for community arts presentations., Since PAAC receives very little funding from local and state governments, we rely on YOU to help us survive, through membership, volunteer work, and onstage or backstage participation in productions. PAAC productions are open to all in the community. You do not have to be a member of PAAC to participate, although we encourage you to join if you are interested in our mission.

The following guidelines have been established by the PAAC Board of Directors (the Board), and apply to ALL participants in the organization and its productions. They will be enforced by the Board, the Executive Director (E.D.), and the directors of individual productions.

PAAC productions involve people of all ages, children as well as adults. Therefore, appropriate behavior and language are expected at all times. Lewd behavior and sexual harassment will not be tolerated. In an interest of safety and respect for your craft, please refrain from being intoxicated while on PAAC property. Any behavior deemed inappropriate by the Board (including, but not limited to, specific behaviors listed herein), will subject the violator to sanctions to be determined by the Board.

Drinks with spill proof or screw on tops, as well as food are permitted in the auditorium. Please dispose of any trash you produce, using the appropriate containers. Do not leave trash in the office area, auditorium, backstage, in the dressing rooms, or in the restrooms. If trash containers are full, or if restroom supplies are needed, please notify your director or stage manager, or the E.D.

Tobacco use is not permitted inside any PAAC building. Exceptions may be made by the Board of Directors to meet the demands of a production. In such cases, smoking will be limited to designated actors at appropriate times during rehearsals.

Tobacco use is permitted on PAAC property, outside of buildings, by persons of legal age, in areas designated by the Board of Directors (normally the rear of the theater and the office annex). Byproducts must be disposed of in the appropriate receptacles.

Possession or use of alcohol is not permitted on PAAC property. Exceptions must have prior approval by the Board of Directors, and must meet all conditions set by the Board. Violation of this policy may result in the violator’s removal from current and future PAAC productions.

Possession or use of illegal substances is not permitted on PAAC property. Such possession or use will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Violation of this policy may result in the violator’s removal from current and future PAAC productions.

Stage machinery and equipment (including, but not limited to, curtains, the fly system, the lighting equipment, and the sound equipment) are to be used only by persons designated by the Director or Technical Director of a production. This machinery handled carelessly or improperly, can cause injury or death. Designated persons must be trained by the appropriate Board member or person designated by the Board before they operate the equipment.

All costumes, props, tools, scripts, music (printed or recorded), videos, and printed materials are the property of or have been licensed to PAAC. Individuals are responsible for all materials which have been issued to them. Lost or damaged rental materials will be charged to the person responsible for them at the ratespecified in the rental/royalty contract. Other lost or damaged materials will be charged to the person responsible for them at the replacement rate as approved by the board. Such materials must be returned to the designated person or persons on the date announced, generally at the end of the show's run. Any exception must be approved in advance by the Board.

The Director of a show will not be paid until all rental scripts are turned in or accounted for. The Music Director of a show will not be paid until all rental scores are turned in or accounted for. Designers and crew heads will not be paid until all receipts and remaining advanced money are turned in.

The PAAC office has posted hours and the theater has hours of operation. These buildings are not to be used as an after-hours hangout. Once performance, rehearsals, technical work, or cleanup is complete, lights must be turned off and the building must be locked. The use of the office, the theater, or any PAAC property for PAAC activities outside of normal or posted hours must be approved by the E.D. in advance of such use. The use of PAAC facilities for non-production or personal activities is prohibited without the permission of the Board, and is subject to any conditions the Board may set.

The telephone and computer are for business use only. Exceptions will be made for specific needs. See your director or stage manager, or the E.D.

Please report any damaged items to your director or stage manager, or the E.D.
